Our Othello begins with Shakespeare and his words in original language proceeding through our vision, interpretation, and theatrical and scenic rewriting.
Thanks to the work of author Andrea de Manincor, Cassio – the only witness of the tragedy – guides the audience, in Italian, through the sequence of events, sharing reflections and comparisons.
From Venice to Cyprus, from Othello’s and Desdemona’s master bedroom, there is a progression towards the profound intimacy of the tragedy. We immerse ourselves in the emotive turmoil in which Othello is caught – nourished, bewitched and conquered by Iago. He falls, along with all of us.
It is a journey towards the altar of sacrifice, where Desdemona – the only Shakespearian heroine capable to standing up against the paternal figure – consciously continues to accept her choice until the very end.
