The Lido island is not famous only for the long beach and the International Movie festival but also as the green island in which interesting Liberty villas are spread everywhere. Architects of the twenties of the last century had the possibility to make their architectural experimentations here as they couldn’t do them in the historical city.
We will discover these treasures hidden among beautiful gardens getting Malamocco, the old Metamauco where the second political center of the Republic was settled before being definitely moved to Saint Mark Square. The view of the south lagoon and its island from here is just amazing.
This tour is conducted exclusively by bicycle, allowing us to see various Liberty-style villas along the route. For the return to Santa Maria Elisabetta, we will follow the Murazzi (an imposing stone dam made of Istrian stone, built by the Republic of Venice to protect the lagoon’s banks from sea erosion), enjoying views of the Adriatic Sea.
We will have also the possibility to take a break tasting a fresh drink or the famous spritz, the Venetian aperitif.
It will be possible to came back to Santa Maria Elisabetta or staying longer at Malamocco for lunch and/or spending time along the beach.
